Problem Space + Research
How can we inspire a sedentary society to start and sustain fitness routines despite challenges like time constraints, slow progress, and the difficulty of maintaining consistent habits?

During the research process, I gathered insights from a diverse group of gym-goers and identified key themes in their feedback.
Users prioritize different aspects of their fitness journey—diet, exercise routines/plans, and consistency being the most common focal points. Managing these elements can be complex, and users expressed a need for a solution that simplifies and integrates these components to better aide their overall progress.
After summarizing the AEIOU framework from my research and interviews, I developed a mind-map to guide me toward identifying a potential solution.

Concept
Prep-station + GymPods

The design is aimed to support beginners by helping them establish a routine from the get-go. The prep station (left model below) acts as a "suit-up" area, providing users with everything needed for their gym session, from supplements to gym attire and towels. This personalized and transparent process streamlines the experience for newcomers, making their initial steps into fitness as seamless as possible.

The gym pods (right model) are a personal space for each user, addressing the initial discomfort many feel when starting their fitness journey. These pods are equipped with features that support and enhance the early stages of gymming, helping beginners confidently kickstart their exercise journey.

Throughout the logo design process, I initially aimed for something energetic and graphic but later pivoted to focus on two key concepts: movement and minimalism.
Final + Reflection
How Bone operates systematically

The gym pods are designed for beginners and are located separately from the main common area. They can be accessed by walking through the prep stations.

This project explores the intersection of scientific fact and science fiction, crafting designs that seamlessly merge reality with imagination while embracing the irony of the in-between.
Though Bone is highly conceptual, it was inspiring to envision how technology can enhance daily life in meaningful ways. With wellness being such an integral part of our lives, I see tremendous potential for innovation in the fitness space and am excited to continue exploring these possibilities.
